Concrete Contractor in Wood Dale, IL

Driveways, walks, and foundations — from downtown Wood Dale's Metra core out to the south-O'Hare residential blocks.

A Train Suburb on the South Side of O'Hare

Wood Dale has one of the more unusual geographies in our service area. The village wraps around the south edge of O'Hare International Airport on the DuPage County side, which means most of the residential blocks share their skyline with cargo warehouses, light industrial, and a steady overhead flight pattern. The airport proximity shapes the work calendar in small ways — we plan cure windows around rain and heat more than noise, but we do occasionally adjust timing when a crew wants to hear itself think. The Milwaukee District West Metra line runs straight through downtown Wood Dale and anchors the older residential grid around the station.

We work Wood Dale out of our Schaumburg home base. The job mix skews toward driveway and front walk replacements on the post-war blocks, with some genuinely old pre-war concrete near the downtown where the original train-suburb streets went in back in the 1920s and 30s. Foundation and garage floor jobs come up regularly as owners renovate the smaller original homes, and patio and walk work fills in around the core.

Concrete Services We Do in Wood Dale

Five services from one crew. Wood Dale's mix of downtown-era homes and post-war subdivisions means we tailor the spec to the actual age of the property.

Concrete Driveways

Tear-out and replace on post-war ranch and split-level drives that have aged out, plus carefully-layout replacements on the older downtown-adjacent blocks where driveways are narrow and detached garages are common.

Concrete Patios

Backyard entertaining slabs, pool decks, and smaller patios sized to the typical Wood Dale rear yard. Broom, exposed aggregate, and integrally colored finishes.

Stamped Concrete

Random flagstone, slate, and cobblestone patterns for patios and front-yard walkways. Integral color plus color hardener, sealed with a film-forming acrylic for freeze-thaw protection.

Foundations & Slabs

Addition footings dug to 42-inch Illinois frost depth, garage floor repours, and the occasional basement slab replacement in a renovated older home. We coordinate closely with framers and GCs on addition timing.

Sidewalks & Walkways

Front walk replacements on panels that have heaved near tree roots, step and stoop repairs, and Wood Dale village program panels in the right-of-way when public works has tagged them.

Working the South Side of O'Hare

Wood Dale's downtown residential area is older than most of our service area realizes. The blocks nearest the Metra station include original train-suburb houses from the 1920s and early 30s, and some of those homes still have their original front walks and driveway approach slabs. When we tear those out, we generally find minimal base preparation and no meaningful reinforcement, which is what the spec of that era called for. The replacements go in at modern thickness and with proper rolled stone base, because a 100-year-old slab is a monument and a 25-year-old slab is just a driveway. Both matter, but they're poured to different standards.

The post-war sections of Wood Dale look more like a conventional NW Chicago suburb — 1950s, 60s, and 70s ranch homes and split-levels on regular lots, with original driveways that are hitting their end-of-life on a normal curve. On those jobs we usually do straightforward tear-outs with a 5-inch slab, #4 rebar or welded wire mesh, 4 inches of CA-6, and control joints at roughly 8 to 10 feet. The only unusual factor is the occasional O'Hare cargo-route noise, which sometimes makes radio communication between the finisher and the rest of the crew a small challenge during a pour.

Wood Dale permits file through the Village of Wood Dale Community Development Department. Residential driveway and walk work is routine. Projects near the airport-adjacent commercial zoning sometimes require extra review, and we handle that conversation directly with the village rather than leaving a homeowner to figure out which office to call.
